Waiting for my flight to meanjin. Sitting writing this without headphones which is a first - just bathing in the airport ambiance..
Thinking of what Kat said when she was going for a run on her story recently. Paraphrased but, “Running without headphones is like raw-dogging real-life. There’s all these sounds in real-life, did you know about this guys???”

I’m not exactly sure if all of these are exclusive to the South-West, and the only one I know the name of is the first two images - the Illawarra Flame Tree. If anyone reading this knows the names please let me know! I’d love to learn more about them.

It’s beautiful that 6 seasons can be conceptualised! Indigenous cultures really have ancient and unique ways of knowing and being sowed within them :)
I went on this walk through Karrgatup / Kings Park with Calan’s cousin, Paul, who is visiting from Germany at the moment. Omg I’m madly typing this because my flight is boarding in 5 minutes and I’m spacing and backspacing and pausing and no commas and re-entering and wow let’s go. Ok ok.
On this walk through Karrgatup i got a 7 minute field recording and the bird sounds changed so frequently! Looking forward to getting back into the studio to work these field recordings from Boorloo and America into more full tracks.

This 2013 documentary on Homosexuality in Africa was super interesting! I’ve been thinking seriously about going back to Ghana (because of the racism in this country) but the homophobia and illegality of queerness is so strong there so I wanna do lots of research before going.
I’ve enjoyed the time with family and i feel a bit guilty for leaving! Hoping these couple interviews in meanjin go well so I can be there for the time being. Wish i could share more of my thoughts, but gotta board, see ya!
